Dear Members,
It is with immense pride and gratitude that I address you as your newly elected president for the next 12 months of MGC.
Having been a part of this club for years, first as a member of a shooting family steeped in its history, and more recently as your Vice President, I consider MGC my second home.
We're on a fantastic trajectory, with membership growing and our club thriving. While we must maintain a business-minded approach to ensure our continued success, let's not forget the core of who we are: a community where members come to enjoy their sport and have fun!
I believe that the challenges of recent years (Covid & then Floods) have slightly overshadowed this, and my priority is to reignite that sense of camaraderie and enjoyment. To that end, I'm hoping to see the reintroduction of member days and social nights!
I want to assure everyone that my dedication extends to all disciplines within our club. While I have a passion for UT and ISSF, my love for the sport as a whole is strong, and I'm committed to supporting and promoting all forms of shooting that bring our members joy. Whether running DTL events or assisting with Skeet events, my goal is simple: to see shooters of all kinds enjoying their time at MGC.
Our dedicated committee is eager to serve you and enhance your experience at the club. However, we need your support! We rely on the collective effort of our members to keep things running smoothly. If you have time to lend a hand, please step forward – your contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. You dont need to be on the committee to help out!
Looking ahead, we are incredibly excited to be hosting the FITASC World Championships for Universal Trench in 2026! This is a fantastic opportunity to upgrade our facilities and showcase our club to the world. Let me assure you: this event will *benefit* the club financially, thanks to donations, grants, and sponsorships that will cover the costs of the new layout and 15 Trap Machines. More details will be shared soon, but rest assured, this event will be a success for the club.
A huge thank you to Gerald, Jaeng, and their team in the cafe, who consistently provide exceptional food and service that is the envy of clubs everywhere.
Our sport faces some big challenges coming forward with the cost of living hitting everyone and this flowing on to continued cost increases within our sport. One goal for the year will be for our committee to come up with ways and ideas to keep shooting affordable for our members, be it different types off events, different structures etc.
I'm truly excited about the future of our club, and I look forward to working with all of you to make the next 12 months and beyond a resounding success.
If anyone ever has any questions or queries please feel free to contact me for a chat
Yours in Shooting,
Craig Henwood
