Come and Try
The Melbourne Gun Club conducts regular "Come & Try" sessions for those interested in trying this great sport. You will be coached and supervised by experienced members of the Club who are keen to make sure your time with us is enjoyable and rewarding. Clay target shooting is a true family sport where all can participate, meet new friends and have fun together.

Who Can Participate?
To participate you must be over the age of 12 years and a firearms licence is NOT required. No matter whether you are male or female or young or old, you will find clay target shooting to be a wonderful sport quite different to what you may expect.
Come along and break a few targets!
Unlike many other sports, there are very few physical limitations to participating. Clay target shooting is addictive, fun and challenging. Once you attend just one shoot you will realise what you have been missing - a great sport, and lots of fun!
Come & Try Fees
Bookings are essential (see below to book online). The cost is $70.00 for adults and $40.00 for Juniors (12-17yrs accompanied by parent or guardian).
Bookings are limited to 25 each session.
Cancellation-Rebooking Policy
We are unable to change the date of a booking. We can, however, refund a booking and then you can select another date.
This will incur another booking fee. Please give us plenty of notice so that we can re-fill the vacancy. No refunds will be issued within 72 hours of the event start time. (the prior Wednesday 9am)

Gift vouchers are available for purchase online, and can be redeemed online by clicking on your preferred date below. A great gift idea for family and friends, for adults and juniors (age 12-17 years). Vouchers are valid for 12 months from date of purchase. Your experience will be conducted by experienced MGC members, includes equipment, ammunition, targets and appropriate safety equipment. Further information about our Come and Try sessions is detailed below.
Session Structure
You will need to arrive at 8.45 am for a 9.00 am start. Come to the club rooms where refreshments and breakfast are available from the cafe if so desired. There is a compulsory safety briefing which is only held once each session. All fees are payable on the day and you will need to provide photo ID and sign the visitor's book for insurance purposes.
The Come & Try shooting activity runs for 1 - 1.5 hours. Please make sure you wear closed shoes and no camouflage clothing or singlets. The club supplies all required equipment and highly experienced supervisors to assist you. We operate a strict zero alcohol policy.
You may fire up to 25 shots whilst you engage in clay target shooting but this may vary according to the circumstances. A firearms licence is not required to participate in our Come & Try Days.
Come & Try participants may only attend 3 separate sessions prior to obtaining a firearms licence and becoming a member of the Melbourne Gun Club.
