Christmas Shoot Results
Another year at MGC done and dusted and another Christmas Shoot over and done with.
Saturday 13th we hosted our Christmas Shoot with DTL and Skeet on offer which saw 41 entries for the Skeet events, and 75 entries for the DTL (a little down on last year), but nonetheless a great vibe and atmosphere prevailed and was enjoyed by all who attended.
The weather forecast during the week didn't look good but we were looked after by the clay target gods, missing all the storms and all the rain with a beautiful day of 27 degrees and a light breeze to shoot in.
The Skeet got underway over 4 layouts and everyone shooting their 2 Skeet events. With the DTL then kicking off at 12 noon.
Hams Hams Hams up for grabs for all prizes and categories, along with Yarra Peaks wines as a prize if you hit a flash target.

We also had a tribute to club member Hayden Stafford who sadly passed away during the week. The flags were lowered to half mast and we stopped for a moment to remember Hayden with his beloved Collingwood Magpies team song being played over the loud speaker. A random yellow target was put into the machines with the winner hitting the target to receive a bottle of Makers Mark in memory of Hayden. This was one by none other than Liz Schroeter!! Well done Liz!
Our ladies also put together 2 teams for the Ladies Taipan Shield with them shooting 25tgt points score. Our scores have now been sent off to the ACTA office. Thank you to Liz Schroeter, Aimee Norris, Chloe Hughes Gauge, Leni Harrison, Lou Tingate and Jacqui Durham.
While the shoot was on Lou was busy making sure the spits were turning and the pork and beef cooking to perfection. The salads arrived from Tasty Az catering and the team from Helping Hands were on deck to start serving. A huge array of desserts had been brought in by club members and the bar had "Happy Hour" all day.
A great meal and evening was had by all and the lucky raffle winners were:
1st: Rich Sammon - full leg of ham
2nd: Lou Primavera - half leg of ham
3rd: Bill Hailes - Ham nugget
A huge thank you to everyone who supported us not only at the Christmas shoot this year but during the year as well. We are a big club and it is a big job to run. We know we won't always get every decision right but everything we do is for you guys the shooter, and what we believe is the right call. A thank you to the committee for all of their hard work in ensuring the club can run as efficiently as it can and all members who help out.
This week will be the last Wednesday and Friday practice for the year. We will hold a Trench comp on December 27th as a warm up for the Scalzone Cup which is sold out and on Jan 3-4.
We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy 2026 and we will see you all next year!!
