Well what can we say about this weekend's event!!
26 squads catered for 94 shooters for our 2025 DTL Club Champion of Champions which this year also incorporated the Jim Incani Memorial Cup.
A lot of work has gone on and is currently still going to improve the presentation of clay targets thrown for DTL at our club and it was great to hear the praises of some of Australia's best commend that they have noticed the difference. We must thank Lynden for his efforts here in designing a new base plate that's fully adjustable to quickly alter the windage as required. The scores told the story despite tricky light conditions and our background now much tougher with over half the trees in the background being thinned out by Healesville Sanctuary, we still had lots of "red on the board."
The first event off the cuff was 40tgt DB and we had 13 shooters with a clean 40/40 go into the shoot off which was eventually won by Mitch Iles with a 123/123
Event 1
OA - Mitch Iles 123/123
AA - Peter Attard 122/123; Ben Brown 113/114

B - Ralph Maiolo 53/54; Rob Godfrey 49/51
C - Ethan Arkinstall 38/41; Greg Murphy 37/41
Event 2 was a 20tgt Single Barrel which saw 8 shooters shoot the whole 20tgts clean. The shoot off however did not last long with Darrel Williams the only one to shoot the first 10tgts clean.
OA - Darrel Williams 30/30
AA - Alex Incani 29/30; Adam Beechey 25/26
A - Greg Hunt 29/30; Joe Adamo 22/23
B - Tom Siler 23/25; Jack Brady 22/25
C - Ethan Arkinstall 19/20; Don Hinks 18/22
Event 3 the final event of the day and a chance to qualify for the Jim Incani Challenge was a 40tgt Point Score which saw 4 shooters clean with 120/120 and a few of them really turning the Laporte Grand Prix 24 targets to a big while ball of smoke!!
MGC member Damien Mould fought off some big names to take the honours with 141/141.
OA = Damien Mould 141/141
AA - James Willett 137/138; Ben De Pedro 122/123
A - Matt Appleby 138/141; Dylan Naylor 121/123
B - Peter Mills 124/129; Tom Siler 121/129
C - Ethan Arkinstall 104/120; Steve Pellegrino 104/120
HIGH GUNS
We had 3 shooters 1 point down on 179/180. After one round in the shoot off the OA High Gun went to James Willett.
OA - James Willett 204/205
AA - Adam Beechey 202/205
A - Greg Hunt 176/180
B - Tom Siler 170/180
C - Ethan Arkinstall 160/180
James, Greg, Tom & Ethan then qualified for the Jim Incani Memorial Challenge. The 5th and last spot was a wild card draw and with 3 witnesses present the draw took place which saw Jim's grand daughter Jessica Incani drawn as the lucky wild card!! A fitting tribute.
With the clouds coming over and a few rain drops threatening to fall the 5 shooters shot at 25tgts from Mixed Meterage with C grade from 15m, B grade from 17m, A grade from 19m and AA from 21m. The results were after 25tgt of FLASH TARGETS, we had a clear winner in Tom Siler with 24/25. Tom winning the first ever Jim Incani Memorial taking home a brand new Miroku MK38 Shotgun!!! Well done Tom!
We must thank Steve and Mario Incani for their support of this event and the whole Incani family. It is great that we can host this event in your father's name who enjoyed many days at our range particularly with the Veneto/Abruzzo Club who shot on our grounds for many years.
Thank you to everyone who helps make the day run so smoothly specially with such a great crowd we really appreciate it!! We look forward to seeing you all next weekend at Melbourne!!!
