A cold dark drizzly morning greeted the 9 squads of shooters for the day at MGC on Saturday 6th of June 2026, with 5 squads of DTL and 4 squads of Trench.
The club rooms were nice and warm with a soup or meal from the Cafe making the place seem very special and the favourite spot for the day. Despite the cool and dark conditions, there was still some great competition out on the ranges.
1st event for DTL was completed with Geoff McLure taking the chocolates with a clean 75/75.

The last event of the day was the 50tgt Double Barrel event which saw Damien Appleby again coming out on top with a clean 50/50.

75 Tgt Trench:
Over on the Trench layouts we saw some great scores despite the tough light conditions, with Danni Di Pietro 71/75, Rocky Speranza and Jeff Tonna both shooting 70/75 to advance to the final top 8 shooting under the new rules.
With the sun coming out for the final, the shadow of the roof slowly crept over the lip of the trench layout making the targets very tough to see on their exit. Made even harder by being a single barrel event for the final. This however did not bother Liz "The Schroeternator" Schroeter who after almost being eliminated in the first 2 series punched the next 9 out of 10 to hit the lead. It went to the wire with a sudden death shoot off between her and Danny Di Pietro, but 2 targets later The Schroeternator took a big scalp.
