Junior Shooters

Melbourne Clay Target Club has been very proactive in encouraging juniors to partake in Clay Target shooting.  This has been in the manner of regular come and try days and also their support of students from Lilydale High School and surrounding schools who have students participate in shooting every Wednesday afternoon.  This year there has been considerable interest displayed by new year 7 students from Lilydale High School.  With the aid of some local businesses: Knoxfield Automotive Services, Melbourne Cleaning Services, Beetle Branding, FXD Creative and Lilydale High School we have been able to institute a monthly junior competition. Ammunition and tokens are supplied to the students by the club and there is a trophy for the winner of each event.  This is run as a handicap score event which should mean that novice shooters should be able to compete on a level playing field with the experienced shooters.  The first event was last Wednesday (26th Feb), we had 15 students compete and the eventual winner was one of our new shooters.  Congratulations go to Michael Skinner on his fine winning performance on the day.

A picture of the students at the event is shown below along with Michael holding his first prize trophy and wearing a big smile.
